A NOLLAMARA pensioner thanks having a late night cigarette in his lounge room for saving his life after a Ford smashed through his bedroom wall this morning.
Milorad Radovanic, 66, got up for a glass of water and a smoke just before the crash at about 1am.
He was watching the late TV film in his HomeWest unit at the Ravenswood-Hillborough drives' intersection just minutes before the crash.
"I heard squealing brakes and then, oh my god, the car hit my wall,'' Mr Radovanic said, "I was Lucky.''
The black sedan went through the roundabout intersection, over the verge and down a sMall embankment.
It stopped about a metre inside the bedroom, pushing Mr Radovanic's empty bed 2m.
The uninjured driver, a northern suburbs student driving his grandmother's car, was rescued by neighbours.
He was taken to Nollamara police station for a blood alchohol test, police said.
Mr Radovanic planned to sleep in his lounge room.
